List of Trade Mark Classes Australia

Trade marks are ‘signs’ used to distinguish the goods/services of different traders, so it follows that when you file an application, you need to clarify what those goods/services are.

All goods and services have been categorised into various ‘classes’ which are listed under an international agreement which has been adopted by a majority of countries around the world.

There are 45 of these ‘classes’ from which you can select your goods or service/s.  Goods are covered in numbers 1-34, whilst numbers 35-45 cover services.

As a part of our search process (regardless of the type of search you select), we make recommendations as to which trade mark classes in Australia are most suitable for your particular application.

To meet the basic filing requirements, the Trade mark Office has to be advised of the class number when an application is filed. It is also a requirement to specify the goods/services being claimed within the class/es.

If you employ MMW Trade mark Services to prepare and file the application on your behalf, we will attend to this for you. Further, by engaging us to file the application, we will be listed as your agent on the official record as the ‘address for service’.  This means that all government correspondence will come to our office for attention – so you can be assured it will be actioned promptly and efficiently.  It also means that in the event that another party wishes to query, contact or challenge your trade mark, they will contact us rather than getting in touch with you directly.  By receiving all communication on your behalf, MMW Trade mark Services can review, report and advise accordingly.

Mistakes can be costly.  Let our experts file your trade mark application in the correct class.  As you can see from the extensive list of classes below, it’s not always straightforward, so talk to our friendly team today.  We’ll take care of all the details so that you can get on with the important task of running your business!  Click here to get in touch with MMW Trade marks Services.
